A fascination with the idea that a well-made piece of jewelry may one day become an heirloom inspired Kir Boedecker to design her first piece of jewelry nearly twenty years ago. Sterling silver and 18 karat gold designs adorned with semi-precious stones and pearls are the foundation of the KIR Collection.  KIR also pays homage to exotic cultures by using detailed textures, unusual finishes, materials and techniques some of which have been passed down from generation to generation.  The hand-crafted feel and the finest craftsmanship create a striking, versatile and extremely wearable collection. The collection is influenced by Kir’s passions for exotic cultures, music and nature.  Together, these influences evoke an element of playfulness, adventure and empowerment for those who wear it.

Formerly Kirsten Moorhead Jewelry, the company was founded in 2001 by Kirsten Boedecker and Jennifer Klein. From 2001-2004, the company built its wholesale distribution to include many exclusive, high-end boutiques. In Spring of 2009, the company relaunched nationally as KIR with a new mission and product selection.

KIR is still privately owned by its two founders, operating with an all woman team. Design, development, stone sourcing, raw material planning, quality control and customer service are overseen by the KIR executive office in scenic Boulder, Colorado.
