Gemstone Spotlight: Indian Ruby

Nov 17, 2017
The stunning gemstone set in our Signature Cocktail Ring is an Indian Ruby and we use this stone in many pieces that are part of our Signature Collection. It really makes the pieces stand out in the collection because the deep red color is something we don't use very often on such a large scale. Indian Ruby isn't necessarily a category of its own but instead refers to where the Ruby is sourced. Rubies sourced from India have a reputation of being particularly durable and come in a deep, blood-red coloring which makes them great for any type of jewelry. In fact, their durability is second to that of pure diamonds. Therefore, they can be used as large gems without having to worry about being scratched and do not need a high level of maintenance. For these same reasons, rubies are held in high regard in Asia since they could be used to adorn the armor of noblemen in China and India and were also used beneath the foundations of buildings to promote good fortune throughout the building and to the people within it.
